Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to site owners. This page explains what cookies this website uses, why, and the choices you have. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
We keep things deliberately simple: this website does not use advertising, marketing or social-media tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics.
The only cookies this website sets itself are strictly necessary for it to function, and these do not require consent under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). We do not set any analytics, advertising or profiling cookies, so there is no cookie banner asking you to opt in. The only third-party cookies you may encounter come from the embedded Google Map described below, and these are set only if and when that map loads - you remain in control of them through your browser settings.
These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are set automatically, do not identify you personally, and are not used for tracking.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
chestnut_psychology_session |
Chestnut Psychology | Maintains your session and keeps the site working as you move between pages. | Temporary - expires up to 2 hours after your last activity. |
XSRF-TOKEN |
Chestnut Psychology | A security token that protects any forms on this site against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. | Temporary - expires up to 2 hours after your last activity. |
Our contact section includes an embedded Google Map showing the location of our office. When the map loads, Google may set its own cookies and collect usage data in line with Google's privacy policy. These typically include cookies used by Google to remember preferences and for security. We do not control these cookies and cannot list their exact names or durations, as Google may change them.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |

Google Maps cookies (e.g. NID) |
Set when the embedded map loads, to deliver and secure Google Maps and remember user preferences. | Varies - from session-only up to around 6 months. |
If you prefer to avoid these, you can browse the site without scrolling to the map, or block third-party cookies in your browser - the rest of the site works fully without them. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which serves font files without setting cookies.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings - including blocking third-party cookies entirely. Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored and delete them individually, or block cookies from particular sites or all sites. Guidance for the major browsers is available at aboutcookies.org. Please note that blocking the strictly necessary cookies above may affect how this site functions.
We review this policy when the website changes, and will update the "last updated" date above whenever we do. Any changes take effect as soon as the revised policy is published here.
